What is a Landfill?
- A Landfill is an area where the garbage collected from a city or town is dumped.
- There the part of the garbage that can be reused is separated out from the one that cannot be used as such. Thus, garbage has both useful and non-useful components.
- It is later converted into a park.
What is Composting?
- Converting plant and animal waste including that from kitchens, into manure, is called composting.
- Plastics cannot be converted into less harmful substances by the process of composting.
What is Vermicomposting?
- Earthworms are called farmers’ friend as a type of them, called the redworms, can be used for composting.
- The method of preparing compost from kitchen garbage with the help of redworms is called vermicomposting.
