Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) Rustom-2 has completed its maiden test flight successfully.
What is Rustom-2?
- Rustom-2 is a medium altitude long endurance (MALE) UAV.
- It has been designed and developed by the Bangalore-based lab of DRDO- the Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE).
- It has been renamed as Tapas 201 and has come 7-years after Rustom-1.
What are its features?
- It is an indigenously developed drone for surveillance, reconnaissance, intelligence gathering and attack.
- It can fly for 24 hours at a stretch.
- It weighs 2 tonnes and has a wingspan of 20 metres.
What are its advantages?
- The timing of the test flight has interestingly coincided with the government’s decision to spend Rs. 67,000 crore on Made in India military hardware. Under the plan, 598 mini Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or drones will also be purchased.
- It is comparable to the US-made Predator drone.
- During the surgical strikes of October 2016, the army had to rely on imported drones for monitoring and filming the events. They had high endurance and were capable of flying at higher altitudes. In the coming future, Rustom-2 will be able to carry out such tasks.
- Unlike traditional UAVs, Rustom-2 will need a runway to take off and land, thereby increasing its trustworthiness. It will be capable of taking off and landing automatically.
रुस्तम -2 (Rustom-2): सुविधाएँ और UCAV के लाभ
- मानव रहित लड़ाकू हवाई वाहन (UCAV) रुस्तम -2 ने सफलतापूर्वक अपनी पहली परीक्षण उड़ान पूरी कर ली है।
रुस्तम -2 क्या है?
- रुस्तम -2 एक मध्यम ऊंचाई और उच्च धैर्य (MALE) यूएवी है।
- यह DRDO की बेंगलूर स्थित प्रयोगशाला- वैमानिकी विकास प्रतिष्ठान (एडीई) द्वारा डिजाइन और विकसित किया गया है।
- इसे तापस 201 का नाम दिया जा चुका है और “रुस्तम -1” के 7 साल के बाद यह आया है।
इसकी विशेषताएं क्या हैं?
- यह निगरानी, टोह, खुफिया जानकारी जुटाने और हमले के लिए देश में विकसित ड्रोन है।
- यह एक बार में 24 घंटे के लिए उड़ सकता है।
- यह 2 टन वजनी का है और 20 मीटर इसके पंख का फैलाव है।
इसके फायदे क्या हैं?
- दिलचस्प बात यह है कि भारत सरकार ने जब भारत में निर्मित सैन्य हार्डवेयर में 67,000 करोड़ रुपये खर्च करने का निर्णय किया उसके साथ ही इसका परीक्षण उड़ान हुआ, इस योजना के तहत 598 छोटे मानव रहित हवाई वाहन या ड्रोन भी खरीदा जाएगा।
- यह अमेरिका निर्मित घातक ड्रोन के बराबर है।
- अक्टूबर 2016 के सर्जिकल हमलों के दौरान सेना को निगरानी और घटनाओं के फिल्मांकन के लिए आयातित ड्रोन पर निर्भर होना पड़ा था। वे उच्च धैर्य वाले और अधिक ऊंचाई पर उड़ने में सक्षम थे। आने वाले भविष्य में, रुस्तम -2 इस तरह के कार्यों को पूरा करने में सक्षम हो जाएगा।
- पारंपरिक यूएवी के विपरीत, रुस्तम -2 को उड़ने और उतरने के लिए एक रनवे की जरूरत होगी , जो इसकी विश्वसनीयता को बढ़ाता है।
- यह स्वचालित रूप से उतरने और उड़ने में सक्षम होगी।
